Oh, the horror of it all!
Elliot Lavine’s expertly curated film-noir series “I Wake Up Dreaming” gets into the spooky spirit of the season with a killer triple bill that will creep you out and perhaps give you a case of the giggles to boot.

It kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at San Francisco’s Castro Theatre with “House of Horrors,” a 1946 revenge thriller starring Rondo Hatton as “The Creeper,” a deranged man befriended by an sculptor who then goes after the artist’s detractors.
That’s followed at 7:50 p.m. with 1948’s “The Spiritualist” (otherwise known as “The Amazing Mr. X”), a mind-gamer about a widow’s encounter with a mysterious stranger who knows A LOT about her.
The diabolical evening shivers to a close at 9:20 with 1944’s “The Soul of a Monster,” a thriller that ventures into the world of hypnosis.
