On September 7, 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur was shot in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shakur was taken to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, where he died six days later, on September 13, 1996. He was 25. Known as 2Pac, he was one of the most successful – and scorned – “gangsta” rappers.
When Shakur starred in the rap film ‘Poetic Justice’ with Janet Jackson in 1993, it was confirmation of his star status. He had just finished making another film – ‘Gang Related’ – when he was gunned down. Shakur was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame on April 7, 2017.
