People attending Day Two (Saturday, Aug. 12) of the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco were well aware of the violence that erupted earlier in the day in Virginia.

Some artists at the festival took time onstage to address the tragic situation stemming from a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville.

I happened to catch the remarks from Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmtih, who spoke passionately about the situation late in his Los Angeles-based folk-rock act’s set at Outside Lands.
